Wednesdays are two-for-one night

It’s two-for-one taco night TONIGHT

It’s almost like last year: Come in every Wednesday night, now through April 1 (except for January, when we are closed) and get something fishy two-for-one. This year, just because we have third-grade attention spans and want to do something different, our two-for-one will be our fabulous fish tacos (or maybe, if we’re in the mood, a choice of fish, or pork or chicken) with our tortillas, house-made and grilled to order. We sear up the fresh Canadian rockfish nice and golden, and nap it with chipotle tamarind slaw, sliced radishes and cotija cheese. Normally, an order of two tacos is $8, but this winter, get TWO orders for $8. Pass the word, and we’ll see you tonight, maybe. Don’t make us tweet you about this.

The chef’s tasting menu is back

Yikes, it was too busy in here this summer to let you have it, and we know you wanted it. So it’s back: come in any night and get our five-course chef’s tasting menu for $30, or two for $50. We’ll pair wines with it for you for an extra $20 per person. And no, we don’t know what it’ll be (changes sometimes even hourly…it’s that third grade attention span thing again.)  Need reservations? Nah, but it won’t hurt our feelings if you let us know if you’re bringing in a group.

Welcome: Andrew Wightman is here! (And Nathan gets a promotion)

Andrew Wightman joins us this week as sous chef. Andrew is bringing us some hot stuff ….. chilies, that is.  Andrew spent time at the late, great D.F. in Portland, serving up innovative Mexican food. Those of you who have been eating at Nora’s for a while, and Viento previously, know Kathy loves those Latin flavors, and she’ll be working with Andrew to bring more of that to our already flavor-forward menu.

Andrew hails most recently from Vindalhoo in Portland, where he first met and worked with our Nathan Morgan, and that explains, in part, why Andrew is now experiencing life in The Hood and around your favorite Table.

In recognition of the amazing culinary work Sous Chef Nathan has done here at Nora’s for the last 14 months, we’ve promoted him to Chef de Cuisine, which is a fancy name for the guy who makes it all happen, from dish creation to execution. Nathan and Kathy will work closely together keeping the food you love coming to your table, and Andrew is their wing man. Got it?

Please come sit in our new fancy chairs at the bar and introduce yourself to Andrew, and congratulate Nathan.

    him to come work at the fine restaurants in my area, but he loves Portand OR.

    So you do have the best Chef in your House!

  2. The three of us couldn’t decide what to order from the menu this past Wednesday, so we ordered the fish tacos as an appetizer — absolutely divine!! The homemade tortillas and flaky moist fish was amazing!

    I was a little nervous when my friend insisted we get the brussel sprouts. I refused to eat brussel sprouts 30 years ago when my mother insisted I eat them. Well, you can tell all of the brussel sprout-haters out there (and I know there are many) that these brussel sprouts are worth leaving all pre-conceived notions and bad brussel experiences behind. Yumm!!! I will be back for more.

    Then, well, I can’t remember what everyone else ordered for dinner because I was focused on one dish and one dish only – my Flat Iron Steak. This was sooo good that I don’t even have a description of how good it was. Melt in my mouth magic. Thank you.
